OpenSQUID uses the OpenMage-based OpenSQUID core as a main controller component. OpenMage is a Python-based API for communicating with the Star Cryoelectronics PCI-1000 readout electronics. OpenSQUID core then translates these commands from the OpenMage API into GPIO commands for interacting with the output drivers of the PCI-1000. The following examples demonstrate how to perform the key-mapping of the interface.
Configuration
OpenSQUID uses a subset of the OpenMage API to allow one to directly control the PCI-1000. OpenMage is a Python-based API for communicating with the Star Cryoelectronics PCI-1000 readout electronics. This method of interfacing is the same interface as used by the UVCSA-1000 software. However, the OpenSQUID approach provides the advantage of supporting two devices, while the UVCSA-1000 supports only one.
OpenSQUID is written as a Python library which can be loaded by users. This allows OpenSQUID to be used in conjunction with other open source software such as the FPGA, FFTW and OpenCV libraries.
